A quiet house where footsteps used to fall
No rhythmic clicking in the wooden hall
You were the heartbeat in our home
So suddenly you were gone
A mix of wonder in a coat of midnight ink
More human-hearted than some people, I think
With just a little snow upon your tail
Like a silent promise that would never fail
That cute white streak across your loving face
Is now a memory time cannot erase
You had wisdom in those rosy eyes
A gentle nature, ancient and so wise
You never asked for much, just love to share
we feel your ghost within the empty air
From morning sun to evening light
we look for shadows in the middle of night
Waiting for a nudge against a weary hand
The greatest friend across this lonely land
we keep your spirit near
In every heartbeat, in every tear
You fought so hard until the very end
Rest now in peace, my most beloved friend
No more pain and no more weary days
Just golden meadows in a sunlit haze
In white fluffy clouds fly like a dove
