Dino Kwok

2010 - 2026

My Sweet Boy Dino,
Being your paw-rent has been the greatest honor of my life. We grew old together—though you did so much faster. In doggy years, you lived a long and beautiful life, and I am so grateful you were able to experience it so fully and joyfully.
I promised you a lifetime of love, and that is exactly what you lived—every single day, in every possible way, until the very end.
I still remember the day I brought you home, just days before Christmas in 2010. From that moment on, you became part of our family. Little did we know you would become the greatest gift of our lives.
I love you beyond measure. Thank you for your loyalty and unconditional love. During my darkest moments, your warmth and companionship comforted me and carried me through.
You were my unofficial therapy dog—though I I was yours too as you were always anxious in your own little way.
Like my shadow, you followed me everywhere. Even when your legs grew frail and unsteady, you stayed right by my side. My best friend. My soul dog.
I will miss our countless adventures to PetSmart. I will miss our daily naps and cuddles, your sloppy kisses, and your gentle ways of showing love. I will miss car rides with you on my lap, our pup cup runs at Starbucks, and dressing you up for special occasions—especially for our annual Christmas card photos. I will miss caring for you, spoiling you… and so much more.
Being a (good) paw-rent comes with an enormous amount of responsibility and sacrifice—social, financial, and emotional. And the quiet weight of anticipatory grief carried throughout the years . And yet, despite it all, I would always choose you. I would do it all over again a thousand times if I could.
Grief is often seen as something to overcome or to get rid of. But how can grief end if love never does? They say grief is love with nowhere to go. Then deep grief must be the greatest expression of love—and I am grateful to feel it, because it means I loved you that deeply.
I know you are at peace now, running fast and free like you did when you were a pup.
Somewhere beautiful, waiting for me as you always have… only this time, at Heaven’s door.
Until the day we meet again my sweet boy .
With all my love,
Daddy
