Charlie

2013 - 2024

Our very first baby Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge November 22nd surrounded with so much peace and love from my husband and I in our home—on his own terms. He left our hearts shattered into a million pieces, and we all lost our best friend. He took a piece of us when he left. We got Charlie in college and he has truly been through every step of life with us, from school, to graduating, to getting new jobs, getting our 1st house, welcoming new pet additions, getting engaged and married and having our first baby. He was there for all of life’s ups and downs and helped us navigate life. He was our constant shadow that smothered us with unconditional love and kisses.
He wasn’t a regular Chihuahua. He loved the snow, 4 wheeler rides, and could catch any rabbit around that was two times his size. He was the sassiest, quirky little guy and he was fiercely protective of his family. It always took him a while to warm up, but he found life long bestfriends in our cats, our dog winnie & of course our daughter—who all miss him immensely.
Thank you for the most wonderul, love & laughter filled 11 years Sir Charles. All the time in the world still wouldn’t be enough. We’ll miss your barks and tail wagging when we come through the door. The house is so quiet without you. We will miss you for the rest of our days 💔 we are painfully aware that we we will never find another pup like you.

Say Hi to all of our fur babies that are gone, we know you were running to them at the end. Our bed feels a lot colder and empty, but we know you are free of pain and can have endless time basking in the warm sun. Run free at the hunt camp, until we meet again my baby 🌈

One of my favourite poets said:
“The hardest part about loving a dog is knowing that one day, you'll have to say goodbye. From the moment they come into your life, you know their time is limited, but you push that thought away, pretending the day will never come. You invest your heart in them, share the quiet mornings, the playful afternoons, the long walks that seem endless. They become more than just a part of your life-they become a part of you.
As they age, you start noticing the little signs. Maybe it's the way they slow down, how their eyes seem to carry a deeper wisdom, or how they don't run as fast as they used to. You try to savor every moment, knowing the time you have left is growing shorter. You start preparing yourself, but no amount of time can make that moment any easier.
When the day finally comes, it's a heartbreak you can't put into words. You say goodbye, knowing you'll carry the weight of their absence forever. The house feels emptier, your routines shift, and you keep looking for them out of habit. But the love they left behind doesn't disappear. It stays with you, woven into your heart, a constant reminder of the joy, loyalty, and comfort they brought. It's a bittersweet truth-loving a dog means eventually saying goodbye, but their love leaves an imprint that lasts long after they're gone.”
