Ripley
2009 - 2025
Ripley loved to be with her people; she would follow you around just to be close and greet you when you came home. She gave lots of slow blinks to tell you that she appreciated you being near her.
For nearly 14 years she was my protector and guardian, only ever biting people who tried to hurt me. Her purrs were healing beyond words, and I cannot thank her enough for the ways that she looked after me. She saw me through so many difficult transitions in my life.
She dearly loved my partner and in the four years that they got to be together she spent a lot of time sitting on her desk with her and crawling into her lap and purring. Their bond was beautiful to witness, and I knew that I had picked the right human because of how much Ripley loved her.
We’ll miss her little quirks like being obsessed with our shoes, having a water droplet on her chin after drinking, and the funny frog-meows she had. She liked to brush her chin herself on brushes that we would leave around for her. Your food was never safe because she had to investigate it to see if it was any good, and she deemed a fair bit of food you wouldn’t expect a cat to want to be worth stealing. The dog food was never safe around her either.
Ripley was really more of a dog than a cat. She loved having dog siblings and houseguests, often cuddling up on the couch and pet beds with them across her lifetime. Reunited with dog siblings Chance and Daisy, she will be missed by her sister Inara and her dog friends who came to visit.
Our home isn’t the same without you, Kitten.
