Penelope
2008 - 2022
Penelope came into our lives at the age of 7 years old. We met after she had two stays in the Calgary Humane Society, one as a stray and one as a surrender. They helped her heal after a tail amputation, but the 6 month stay in the shelter resulted in her being very averse to veterinarians and other cats. She quickly settled into the calm of our home where she thrived as a beloved member of our family. Penelope was not only unique because of her missing tail but she was a rare female orange tabby. She was an easy kitty to care for. She never made a mess or scratched anything other than her cat tree. She had an extraordinarily soft, multi-layered coat that would shed in tufts. In addition to loving her humans, Penelope enjoyed her knitted catnip toys, chasing crinkle balls, sleeping in the sun, watching birds out the window and teasing the dogs. In 2018 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and, while two surgeries gave her a few more years with us, the cancer ultimately took her. Penelope especially loved her special girl Sienna who attentively nursed her until the end. We feel blessed to have had this fabulous feline as part of our family for the last years of her life. Memories of Penelope’s twitching tail stump and snaggle-toothed grin will stay in our hearts forever. Rest easy my little Penelope. ❤️🐈
