GRIZZELDA

2005 - 2020

Rosecrest Grizzelda March 23, 2005 - February 2, 2020
There was just something about Grizzelda that was special. She was spunky, friendly, joyful and had a spirit that was so much bigger than her body. Maybe that's why she believed she was a big dog! Grizz was every foster dog's first friend and an incredible judge of a dog's personality. I trusted her more than I trusted myself.
Grizzelda came to me as a Dog Guide Canada foster puppy. She was only 6 weeks old. She was donated with a litter and mom but the bitch attacked her and they had to remove her asap. I remember they warned me that she might be nervous meeting Brandy and Georgia. Instead she marched into the house, took control of all the toys and demanded her spot in my heart. Brandy took her under her wing and the two of them became the very best of friends.
Grizz was never a super athlete but she would give her all for anything you asked her to do, until she got bored with it - except dockdiving. She thought water sports were totally beneath her. But she did Rally, Agility, Lure Coursing, she even gave weight pull a shot! But her all-time favourite sport was Barn Hunt. I think she believed the sport was created just for her! Grizz only retired from Barn Hunt in May 2019 after she went deaf.
Grizzelda was a great travel partner and we made lots of memories going to lab fests (30 labs and the honourary lab, Grizz), vacations and wherever the road might take us. As long as she had Brandy and I, she was happy. And as long as I had them, life was good.
Run free, sweet Grizz. I know you're with Brandy again and I believe you're by my side whenever I need you. I miss you and will see you again someday.
