My Sweetest Taters,
Thinking back, you weren't even supposed to be ours. You had already been adopted. When your new parents asked to postpone bringing you home, so that they could take a trip, the rescue decided that wasn't your forever home.
You had already lost your first owner to a terminal illness, they didn't want you bounced around. You found us.
We brought you home in September of 2014, and would laugh that you didn't know how to "dog". You had spent 5 1/2 years riding shotgun with you previous owner, and could spot a Tim Horton's anywhere.
You were Dad's first dog, and the first dog for our blended family. You watched our pack grow from pre-teens, to the young adults that they are today. You were there through the bullying, the breakups, the makeup tutorials, and moving out. You were my solace, when we lost Poppa, and never left my side last year, during my own health scare. Your soft fur has held all of our tears.
You were still in there, I know.
My heart was not ready, but I had a responsibility to never let you suffer. You did your job, and did it so well. My job was to set you free from this broken body.
Thank you Dr. Tait, and the wonderful staff at Aldergrove Animal Hospital.
Be free baby girl, You've earned your wings.
We love you, and know that you'll be chasing bunnies on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting to be with us again.
