Sidney

2002 - 2017

The first 5 years of Sidney’s life were rough; the couple who owned him kept him outside in the Georgia heat and neglected to feed or water him at times. Neighbors finally convinced the wife that he be surrendered and he went to live with a wonderful woman named Claire. She along with the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia helped Sidney with surgery needed on his eyes, an ear infection, etc. He was listed under an alias on Petfinder due to the fear of his previous owner using him to get back at his wife. Sidney had been through so much as a little guy! My poor little boy didn’t know a thing about walking on a leash, going up or down stairs or jumping up onto things. With the help of my friend Alan we got through the leash and stairs issues. Until the end he remained unconfident in jumping onto a low couch or even a bed with a few pillows. Put he could open a pizza box, grab a slice and close it! When he came home with me that first day he seemed not to know how to be a dog. Thankfully my little poodle met my mum’s Bichons and soon after learned the ins and outs of being a wonderful and spoiled boy. He was just as giving, too. When I had seizures he stayed by my side. When I was sad he kissed away my tears. The vet said he had fluid in his lungs and his heart was too big. And that’s so very true; Sidney had the biggest heart in the world. I loved him. I love him- it was love at first sight, really.
