Maestro

2000 - 2013

Someone had noticed our little Maestro in the middle of a busy highway and (lucky for us) they dropped him at the local pet store. When I first saw him he was sleeping away while the other kittens meowed and walked over him, and he purred like a locomotive. When he opened his eyes I noticed they looked scuffed, like he had cataracts. For that reason nobody wanted him and the store owner said he was ours if we wanted him. His "flaws" made us love him even more, from the very first moment. The scuffs turned out to be birth marks and his sight was fine. For nearly 13 years he's been a joyful gift to our family. In tough times he was always a comfort and a light when it was hard to see one. He was such a source of fun and joy and affection to our five children. He could be aloof when he didn't want to be bothered and many times I'd walk into the room and find him sacked out on the chair with the dog and my husband! I can't remember all of the silly nicknames the kids came up or the ridiculous hats and t-shirts they tried to make him wear. Yesterday we had to say our goodbyes to our little man after nearly 13 years. My nickname for him I only used when he and I were home together. So Maestro, sleep in love and peace my "little conductor"
