IVY
April 23 2005 - April 12 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce that Ivy has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Just shy of her 8th birthday Ivy lost her valiant effort against cancer, even in the end she was still enjoying walks, the park, my constant travel companion and of course the snow! Ivy came into our lives with Shawnee becoming her dog walker/sitter when she was just a young pup, when she was 2 we were blessed with great friends who entrusted her care to us. We are thankful every day for that gift. We always knew that Ivy had a gift when she was able to bring a smile to anyones face no matter the occasion, that is how Ivy became a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog. For the past 5 years she has been visiting senior homes, early year programs, daycares, schools, fairs, weinerfest and her all time favorite Literacy Day, where she received love, hugs and belly rubs from over 400 children. Being a child/read tested Therapy Dog Ivy had a great role in the Paws 4 Stories program in our local schools, Blenheim District in Drumbo, Plattsville , Winchester and Algonquin in Woodstock. Ivy was also one of the therapy dogs that helped in the healing at Oliver Stephens. Ivy always gave unconditional love, making a warm soft pillow during reading sessions and well with the occassional snoring! But what we discovered was not only was Ivy giving joy to others, but what she was receiving in return. So for all of you who ever had the pleasure of knowing Ivy, giving her a pet on the head, treats, a belly rub, allowed your children to meet her...WE THANK YOU for that gift to her. Ivy was also the unofficial mascot for the Princeton Predators Softball teams where she attended most games sporting her own jersey. Ivy had many pet names she went by, Veve girl, Beebles sweebles, girlie girl and sis. We know that she was well loved and will be missed by all that had touched her heart or had touched theirs especially us she was a big presence in our lives and will be missed everyday. Ivy has gone to join some of her Therapy dog friends, and we know that there is a huge snowbank in heaven made just for her. God Bless you Veve girl run free WE LOVE YOU!
