Dancer

My Dancer Boy
January 1, 1980 - March 24, 2009

A poem written by Nancy Davidson for her best friend and companion, Dancer
The time had come to say goodbye,
I knew this day would someday arrive,
But in my heart I did deny,
How could I go on? How could I survive?
Sitting here thinking with a heavy heart,
God has decided it is time for us to part,
I think back to the day we met,
You and I would be friends, it was a sure bet.
As I gaze into your big soft eyes,
It really comes as no surprise.
You and I are truly best friends,
Nothing can change that in the end.
You are pure fire, energy and light,
Your spirit always will brighten the night.
With your head bent regally, your tail up high,
It almost seems as if you can touch the sky.
You are legend my mystical grey,
I will think of you often and, to God I'll pray,
That you are safe and, by his side.
Until we meet again one day to ride.
We both understand your time is near.
But, for you my friend that I hold so dear,
It's a new beginning, a rebirth of your soul.
It's that thought that keeps me going, what keeps me whole.
You are my light, my pride, my joy,
How will I go on without my Dancer boy?
Now I return your ashes to the earth,
What does it mean? What is it worth?
For you will always be with me in my heart,
You and I will never, ever part.
I love you Dancer forever and always.
