Sarge

My Beautiful Sarge~ 3/15/2021
You came into my life in a most unusual way. Gentle, loving, but persistent. Patiently waiting for me on the back of my golf cart when I arrived at work each day. We would greet each other with me giving you a good rub all over and a hug. You would give me kisses until I giggled. Then I would try to send you back home. You lived nearby but preferred to be with me most of the day. Then that wonderful day came when your owner came over and said,” I think he like you better than me. Do you want him?’” Wow that made my day, of course I said yes. But I had one small problem I had four dogs at home already and I knew my husband would not go for it. So, you became my Ranch Dog. Boy did we have fun. You loved running alone side the golf cart as fast as you could go with a big smile on your face. But you had a plan to get one paw in the door at home. It just so happened to have a few stitches in it, but you were home at last. You worked your magic with the Master of the house and soon took over the job. You were a smart pup indeed. In less than eighteen month you became a full-fledged personal Service Dog for me. But you couldn’t stop there you took on being a walking companion for my husband and boy were you good at that job! You would howl at him until he had to take a walk with you.
You were always so happy to see me come home. You would greet me with that howl that was so distinctively you. We had our little ritual that last a few minutes before I could greet the rest of the household. But I loved it and miss it more than you can imagine. You held such a big place in our home and a bigger one in my heart. It is so empty without you. It has been four weeks to the day that you gave me your last howl and then went to sleep in my arms. I know now that you planned that to.
You knew I couldn’t see you in pain or go though any more of those tuff decisions. So, you pick the time. You went for a beautiful run with you long time friend Steel the handsome German Shephard.
Watch me with excitement while I fixed your breakfast and gently eat a few treats from my hand before finding that protect spot in the sun to have your daily knap. I never knew that this day would be my last day with you. In those final moments I know you could feel and hear how much I loved you as I held you in my arms while you gently went to sleep. And I know you loved me. I will never forget you as you taught me true love, strength, and true grief in a short lifetime. You will be missed but never forgotten.
I also remember as I got ready to walk out the door each day and you looked longingly at me to go with me and I’d say, “I’ll see you later okay”.
Well,
I’ll see you later my friend.
Love you always.
